These efforts resulted in 374 additional federal and state actions. The Commission also aims to achieve greater international cooperation to combat cross-border fraud, further education programs for consumers and businesses and strengthen the enforcement of criminal sanctions against violators of the FTC orders.During 1997, online fraud represented only a relatively small percentage of total consumer complaints. But with the rise of electronic commerce which is becoming increasingly important for authorities to protect consumers.

Good pricing practices are very good for business by increasing profits and customer satisfaction. Here are suggestions from the Federal Trade Commission and the National Conference on Weights and Measures improve pricing practices:

1. Written procedures should be developed for all forms of

fixing activity prices in all your ways particular store for the price in the store's computer matches the posted or advertised prices.

2. Training programs should be developed to store employees that stress commitment to accurate pricing.

3. A coordinator should be designated price for your store.

4. Giving an employee of the responsibility for the accuracy of prices of all items for sale direct delivery.

5. Daily price check of a random sample of items to ensure that the price of the store computer matches the posted or advertised prices.

6. Prices in all corridors, section or area of the store should be checked several times a year to find all undercharges.

7. An audit of prices must be carried out by the team audit of inventory, while they are doing an inventory audit.

8. To speed price audits, use handheld scanners.

9. To immediately replace incorrect or missing shelf labels, use a portable label printer during price audits.

10. How-to manuals on pricing accuracy, contact the trade associations.

11. For information on procedures inspection and pricing laws, contact your local officials Weight and measures

12. Promote your wholesaler or professional association to establish a monitoring program in the industry.

Dietary Supplements Health and Education Act (DSHEA) in 1994 was made possible by the cooperation of the Commission Federal Trade (FTC) and Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The FDA is primarily responsible for claims on the labeling of the product including packaging, inserts and other materials while the FTC handles claims in advertising whether print, infomercials, catalogs and similar materials for direct marketing.

The act changed significant role of FDA in regulating supplement labeling. It was emphasized that advertising mainly in food supplements must be truthful, substantiated and not misleading.
